Flipping

A close-quarters presentation that provides pinpoint lure presentation. A fixed length of line is stripped off the reel and held in one hand, while the rod moves in pendulum fashion to propel the lure low across the water and drop it into the cover.

Tackle

A jig or Texas rigged plastic lure, heavy (17- to 30-poundtest) line, and a stout 7- to 8-foot rod.

When/Where to Use

Flipping works best when bass are holding in heavy cover (wood or grass) in off-colored water.
